Ordering and activating an eSIM

Here you will find instructions for ordering and activating an eSIM.

General information

You can order an eSIM in the OmaElisa for Companies portal. If you are an employee, see the instructions further below.

You can activate your eSIM once you receive an email from us confirming that your subscription has been activated. If you already have an active subscription, you can activate the eSIM immediately. If your number is being transferred from another operator to Elisa, you will receive SMS messages with information on the progress of the number transfer and when you can start using the subscription and eSIM.

How do I order an eSIM?

Ordering an eSIM in the OmaElisa Classic 

  1. Log in to OmaElisa for Companies.
  2. Click on Devices and subscriptions and select Make a change.
  3. From the list, select the subscription you want to order a new eSIM card for.
  4. Under subscription details, click SIM card.
  5. Fill out the New SIM order form and select eSIM. 

Ordering an eSIM in the New OmaElisa

  1. Log in to OmaElisa for Companies.
  2. Go to the 'My Products and Services' section and select the subscription you want to order the eSIM for on the 'Voice subscriptions' tab.
  3. From the subscription details, click SIM Card and then Order New. 
  4. Select eSIM as the SIM card type and click Order eSIM.
  5. Confirm the eSIM order. The old SIM card will stop working immediately after ordering. eSIM delivery takes a moment, after which you can activate it.

I’m an employee. How do I order a new eSIM? 

  1. Order an eSIM to replace your old SIM card at: https://oma.elisa.fi/yrityksille/simkortinvaihto
  2. Enter your phone number in the 'Puhelinnumero' field and click Tilaa kertakäyttösalasana.
  3. You will receive a message from +358509020021: “Your one-time password is: xxxxxxxx. Do not share this password with anyone.”
  4. Enter the one-time password from the message into the 'Kertakäyttösalasana' field and click Tunnistaudu.
  5. Fill out the form under Order new SIM card. Click Order a new SIM card and select eSIM. You will receive separate activation instructions by email.

How to activate the eSIM?

  • The eSIM is activated using a QR code, which is scanned with your phone’s built-in camera feature or a dedicated app.
  • If you are an authorized signatory for your company, you can see all employee subscriptions and QR codes in OmaElisa for Companies.
  • Depending on your company’s agreement, employees will receive their eSIM QR code either in Employee OmaElisa or via email.

Make sure your device is connected to the internet (WiFi or mobile data). Note: If you are activating the eSIM on a device other than a smartphone (e.g., a smartwatch), check the device’s user manual for activation instructions. Activation may require installing a separate app and pairing the smartwatch with a smartphone.

To activate the eSIM, go to your device settings and select "Add new mobile plan/eSIM".

Notes and additional information

  • The QR code can only be used on one device, including for re-downloading the eSIM. It cannot be used to install the eSIM on another device.
